#solidarity alludes to the growing crossover between the use of selfportrait photographs (selfies) and online activism in the age of social media. The video work in this exhibition look at the socially engaged selfies that circulate on social media websites in response to various environmental, economic, political, and social issues around the world, and brings attention to the ways by which these images signify a new form of visual activism in the networked digital era.
